The Sweet Babies Week One
The Sweet babies were born following a difficult delivery. Kali had some uterine inertia after the fourth puppy necessitating a 5 am trip to the emergency vet. An oxytocin shot helped puppies five and six along, and fortunately no other intervention was needed. Although there were six puppies born, the second one, a liver girl, had trouble breathing from the start. Even with veterinary intervention, she was never able to breathe without assistance and died after about 36 hours. The other five puppies are very healthy and gaining weight like crazy. All of them have more than doubled their birth weight within a week.
